This is Schmidt’s second outburst in just a few months, showing two things: he is just now realizing what kind of idiocy rational people in the country are bombarded with on a daily basis, and secondly, that he just might be the first High Representative to actually give a damn about the country.
In just a year of his term, he ended up labelled “illegitimate” by Serb parties due to a lack of Russian support for his nomination, only to be slandered further by Muslim parties over trying to make the delegation process into the upper house of federal parliament more fair, ie. hitting against blatant Muslim power grabbing which had been going in the country for a while and threatened peace in the long run.
With official support from the US, UK and EU not lacking, one can only hope that mister Schmidt will endure in his obvious mission to make Bosnia and Herzegovina a better country.
I sometimes feel that the history of mankind is a big blame game.
Europeans trying to make Bosnia a real thing show how clueless they are about the region. Yugoslavia didn’t work out, Bosnia has like 100x less chances. Give parts to Croatia, to Serbia and give Muslims their own little state with EU guarantee of safety during the process of splitting. It will be messy, but it can be done.
Better for everybody and we can finally stop pretending Bosnia can be functional in its current form.

It seems to my that Bosnia in its current form can function as a state in theory, but not with 3 groups of people that want to go in totally different directions. One group sees Germany as their ally, the second Turkey, and the third sees Russia. One group wants to enter the EU, the second one kinda wants it, the third one doesnt. Two groups want NATO, the other one doesnt. How the fuck are you suppose to lead a country, when people have have wildly different wishes ? Imagine America being split between capitalism, communism and anarchism but they are all in the same country.
