Hello. I’m a Transport Enthusiast and it’s pretty obvious it isn’t a common hobby. Because of it I struggle to find friends with the same interests. People are always making fun of me in school but I don’t let it get to me. The closest I’ve got to friends within the hobby is the people that support my YouTube channel and I support theirs. I’m not asking if anyone wants to be my friend, just wondering who else is a transport enthusiast. Is there many of us out there?
Thank you.

Into aviation myself. Loads of train enthusiasts out there
I’m a big aviation fan myself. Is that the sort of thing you mean?
>People are always making fun of me in school but I don’t let it get to me.
Literally fuck people who make fun of people’s hobbies.
Lash up your channel there.
I’m a big fan of mass transit in general, you’re not one.
Get that YT shared!
Rail Enthusiast here, so much so I became a Rail Engineer.
Plenty of us about and I see a lot of young lads out when on RPSI duties.
I’m enthusiastic about complaining that our transport infrastructure is terrible, does that count?
[check this lad out, loves a bitta transport ](https://youtu.be/BdXqExyYQlo)
Having that interest and living in this country is a cruel joke.
Having looked at one of your vids, genuine question: what is the appeal? It seemed to just be a train arriving then leaving. Just a bog standard Irish rail train on a very dull station (clondalkin/fonthill)
I’m a regular at the Transport Museum at Cultra. You can get there by train and see the history of trains, steam engines, busses and cars.
I’m a “big auld glass of milk and a chicken roll” enthusiast.
Hard to find someone similar tbh.
I do enjoy the odd Geoff Marshall.
My son loves train spotting. Loves it. Wherever we go around the country we need to find a track to watch.
Not into it myself but good on you not letting anyone discourage you from your hobby!
What is it you find interesting? The routes, maintenance, sounds?
I love metro spotting in Dublin. Been patiently waiting
I love it when they dispensary and reappear somewhere else.
Sometime you can fidget with the controls to swap their underwear, put a housefly inside them, or make them materialise three centimetres in the air or mix them all into one single brown-mala-ball being that begs not to be killed before you seperate them again.
Hehehe —- Good times in transporter room 2.
Ever beam a cat into a bath with it’s unsuspecting owner?
Not sure if you have much interest in gaming, but if you have a decent spec machine, look up a game called Cities: Skylines – never thought I’d spend hours trying to alleviate traffic issues.
I presume you follow the other train subreddits? Plenty of people out there. Is it just Irish transport or do you enjoy stuff across the water?
I knew a guy who would photograph every plane he went on and learn the details of each one. I thought it was really cool that he did that
Very into public transport and aviation myself. Given the amount of spotters you see around the place, the lobbying going on for public transport with the likes of Rail Users Ireland and Dublin Commuter Coalition and all of the lads and ladies on the mound and at the Bray Air Display, I can honestly say it’s quite a common hobby.
Keep it up lad, the more train content from Ireland, the better! Geoff and Vicky done very well with All the Stations Ireland too.
I was raised on planes and trains (some family history with both in the UK) and I’m still big into them, picked up boats and spacecraft since as well.
Wouldn’t really go out to watch them but if I see a museum or air show or model train exhibition or whatever I’m 100% there for it, sadly more common abroad than in Ireland. Hoping to travel to the US and watch a rocket launch in the near enough future.
Numtot for life.
Not that uncommon of a thing just most people don’t say it out loud or are just a little bit into it, love anything transport or any excuse to use it especially trains
I’m obsessed with the urban planning aspects of it, but don’t really care about all the engineering and that.
I love anything to do with transport too, great hobby!
I love trains, trams, metros, the tracks, tunnels and everything that goes with it. I also like buses as well. Im also into the engineering side of it, so love seeing things get built and all the infrastructure that goes with it.
I see you already said you like Geoff Marshall. You may already be familiar, but I quite like Jago Hazzard, RM Transit too. Crossrail and HS2 have their own official YT channels as well. There is a website called Ian Visits, and he is quite the transport enthusiast also.
For buses, there is a guy on YT called Graham Ross. Just a regular older guy, and he basically gets on random buses in London and films from the front of the top deck the whole journey from end to end. Riveting I know 😅
The B1M, while predominantly a construction YT channel, they very often do vids on new train lines, metros, airport builds etc.
Here at home, while there’s sweet FA going on transport wise, I kinda follow some of the road building projects, which is kind of transportation I guess. Dunkettle and the N22 upgrade are currently ongoing and there is a YT channel called dronehawk who gives great birds eye views of what’s going on.
A lot of stuff I follow is London/UK focused just because I’m familiar with it, they have a 1st class transport system with so much built infrastructure and different lines and unlike us, can actually get projects off the ground and built. There is just nothing in this country worth talking about or following, so it’s the next best thing.
Yes. In school a lot of things seem odd that are in fact not. Later in life, and especially if you’re lucky enough to go to a large college, you’ll find people with similar interests.
Nice channel man, keep it up
Ever heard of the Pacific Electric?
Wouldnt have an interest in it meself but just wanted to say fair play for having your hobby and not letting a lack of mutual friends or people giving you a hard time ruin it in any way.
The world is a far more exciting place with people with a broad range of interests and hobbies
