Silly suppilovahvero, it’s not your season yet, go back to sleep

  1. Absolutely agog to see these starting to emerge while I’m out looking for chanterelles. Maybe it’s just the heat, but it feels like a month too early to be seeing yellowfoots (yellowfeet?) in the forest. They were so tiny though, couldn’t have been more than a centimeter in height.

  2. Amazing ‘shroom, the yellowfoot. Season is loooong, You can find them already in August, and often still pick them (sometimes frozen) in December if the snow is late.

  3. Oh no…
I can feel my blood rush to my head at the sight of these beauties, the hunt will soon begin!

Last year was kind of insane for me, I got a bad case of “mushroom fever” and ended up picking about 60kg of herkkutatti and 120+ of suppilovahvero, dried them all up and that was 80% of my bag’s content when I flew to my home country for Christmas.
On the good side, my family will never again have to buy mushrooms if they don’t want to.
On the bad side… well, there is no bad side, but I didn’t do anything else in the afternoons for about a month, which I loved.
