  1. In case people are confused. the picture is basically rotated 90 degrees clockwise compared to a normal map.

    The rivers you see in the middle of the pictures are the “Scheldes”

    The lowest one flows towards Antwerp.

    The other ones are linked to the Maas and Waal rivers.

    across the sea you can see England.

    The big patch of water right in the middle of the Netherlands is the “IJselmeer”

    Which used to be the “Zuiderzee”

    This used to be a sea and we built a big dam to turn it into a lake (fresh water)

    Then we drained the lake quite a bit and we made the new province of “Flevoland”
