I mean… in what way are things better today than they were 10 years ago?
I wasn’t a widower ten years ago 😞
1) Where is this from?
2) When was this made?
I highly doubt Ukraine is happier now than 10 years ago…
10 years ago I was full of energy at the start of my years as a student, it was easy. Now I’m almost 30, questioning almost everything. What to do in life? Where to go? Who am I if I live fully authentic, instead of being more inhibited? Interesting, meaningful for sure, but hard work as well.
I imagined all these questions would’ve been answered by now, lol, at least broadly.
My guess is this poll was taken prior to Feb 2022 else Ukraine might not be green.
ask the people of a country that complain as a national sport, what would you expect… lmao
With 2 racist parties on the rise of course we are not happier.
Belgium did indeed drop from 6.967 to 6.805. But so did Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Sweden, Austria, and many others. Not sure where all the green came from in other countries….
And yeah, people are generally going to be less happy with a global pandemic and lockdowns.
weed isn’t legal obviously
Still had a younger brother back then, and the world felt just a slightly little bit less fucked up as it is now
I dunno, but my answer would be ‘no’ too.
Honestly objectively speaking, we’re not fucking wrong. Covid, Crimea and then all of Ukraine invaded, massive inflation, energy prices through the roof… and that’s just the top 5 off the top of my head.
This HAS to be old.
I wonder if there’s a lot of bias since (social) media show a lot of negativity, more so than 10 years ago even, which might give people the impression things are worse now than before.
my mom passed away today 🙁
It’s since Niels Destadsbader got popular
I bought a house, have an OK paying job. Financially I am more secure now than I was ten years ago.
Yet, I would give it all up to live in the world from ten years ago where I could at least pretend the majority of people were decent human beings. Outside of my personal life, things seem to be going to shit at a breakneck pace.
I blame Belgian politics!
If you believe maps on reddit I have a bridge to sell you.
We are more realistic than the rest of Europe, together with Norway.
Finland has an awesome prime minister (Sann**A** Marin), I wish we had politicians like her. She does a great job, loves running, loves to party, she wears normal clothing for her age, she is smart, she is nice and she looks hot.
You’d have to be mentally ill to say that it wasn’t better 10 years ago.
Fucking so much happened in the two last years.
Ukraine is green? Must be an older poll…
Tis allemaal de schuld van de sossen my guys
Why is belguim not happy ( im belgian by the way) i dont understand
I’m guessing half of these random ‘infocharts’ are made by someone who’s really bored
Nice, at least we have a coke lovin’ hoe fuckin’ prime minister that cares about our well being
Who on earth is happier now than 10 years ago?
I mean.. I guess we need to define the concept of “now”
Maybe we were just reaaaally optimistic 10 years ago
Must be because of those cancelled episodes of FC De Kampioenen
We are pessimists
I agree with this.
They’re not airing new episodes of Blabla anymore.
I tell you it’s the weather
Belgium has too many cities, too many people, too much taxes, and no future.
In all seriousness, if there is to believe even a fraction of this accurate looking chart, I’m sure most of the mental health decrease is due to our encounters and fights around COVID and the after-effects. I sure do miss nature after being cooped up working from home for an extended period.
On that note, I really need a cup of joe. ☕
Who the hell would say yes to that though? Like how on earth are things better than 10 years ago? We have even more social media now, financially we’re worse off and we’re more antisocial now?
Belgians are natural pessimists, we find a way to complain about everything.
This is a defense mechanism. A pessimistic attitude prepares you for things going wrong. And throughout our history, we have faced that time and time again.
And when something good happens, we immediately wait for the other shoe to drop. Something good must always be accompanied with something bad. So we don’t allow ourselves to feel happy about good things. Optimism is seen as folly.
It’s part of why Belgians are generally so miserable.
Reported for misinformation. I know it’s not intentional but something has to be done about all those maps that are often factually wrong and even more often “not even wrong” (e.g. comparing data obtained with different methodologies). I see them everywhere on reddit and the moderation just leaves them there like it’s okay to disseminate falsehood

According to the World Happiness Report?
