Probably near the French border, or sometimes in a large Carrefour.. They usually only have thw rillettes made of either goose or porc, not the roast chicken one.
I do eat some when I go to France but never saw anyone selling it in Belgium.
Just like you _cannot_ find in Belgium retail shops:
– Melfor
– Chocorem (they are made in Belgium but not sold there)
– Licorice Haribo Sweets
– French meat (eg Charolaise, Limousine,…)
– something that could just taste like a baguette (this one is because Belgium has laws on maximum salt per bread which France don’t have, so French bakers add a lot more salt to the baguette).
In the beginning I was thinking it was strange. Then I noticed lots of products in Belgian shops are made in Belgium, transport routes are often shorter and at the end of the day if nobody sells them it could be that nobody likes it.
For rillette in particular, I have never seen some proposed in a Belgian restaurant or in canteens so I assume it’s not just part of the cultural taste. Here we tend to put butter on the bread rather than rillettes 😂
Try Intermarché and Carrefour. Intermarché might be your best bet.
I think Cora will have this
Edit: i remember my local Colruyt having a goose version of that
Is that…. chicken ice cream?
I’ve seen this at carrefour
This exact brand is sold in Carrefour if I’m not mistaking.
I got some rillettes (I think it was pork, though) in a Too Good to Go package from Carrefour a while ago, so I would try my chances there if I were you.
