Looks like kątnik domowy or kątnik większy (as i see in english they are called domestic house spider or giant house spider). They are quite common in Poland. They are not dangerous. Their venom is very weak, and smaller ones aren’t even able to bite through human skin.
In fact, we don’t have any deadly/dangerous spiders in Poland in nature, so don’t worry.
Edit: As some people in comments pointed out, in Poland you can rarely meet spiders that can be considered dangerous. Bites are non lethal for a healthy human, but they are painful and can cause inflammation. Fortunately, those spiders don’t tend to live in human households. Thanks to you all for sharing knowledge! 😊
Generally you don’t have to worry about spiders in Poland. As far as I know none of them are significantly dangerous (If I’m wrong here I will appreciate being corrected).
Some of them can give you a painful bite, but the most harm, most of them will do to you is freak you out.
Wasps are much more dangerous. Easier to get bitten and can be deadly, if you’re allergic.
If you don’t want to touch it, you can always scoop it up with a jar like a proper lady and then toss it outside. I know that’s what I’d do.
I would move apartments if I saw this spider.
Spiders native to poland are never dangerous
No but do not try to handle it. Its a house Spider and the bigger ones can bite. Its not dangerous but can sting. Do not kill them they keep your house free from Dirty flies who spread disease.
I had one come out of my bathtub faucet while I was preparing to take a bath lol… Slight panic attack.
Give it a name and knit a little sweater for it. Take it out for a walk on a leash.
Did you crop out the health bar?
As a person who has an intense fear of spiders… I might pass out immediately if I find big spiders in house lol
I’ve lived here for 7 years and never saw these. I really hope I don’t. I’m so scared of spiders even when they are harmless.
Even thought its harmless i wouldn’t sleep well knowing this thing lives in my flat.
No this spider dont bite
One of them lives in my kitchen, and sometimes i see him there, walking on the floor. It seems like these are more afraid of us that we fear them.
Kątnik- I love these big beasts:)
I’ve just left him there. I’ve read that most of the time they don’t come of to people’ sight and they also eat a lot of insects and can stand without any food up to 7 days. Perfect insect killing machine, and it’s also a male one, because females never come that close to people, so I named him Boner.
If I see one in my flat I keep it. They’re helping with mosquitoes and flies in summer!
Giant house spider if im not mistaken, harmless but diaturbing af
nosz nie znowu kątnik
Fire it
Run.
It looks strong and healthy so nothing to worry about .
TL:DR – harmless for humans, not agressive, will hunt and kill actual house pests.
This is the biggest species in Poland, can grow up to about 10cm (4in) in size and are completely harmless. They usually try to stay away from light and hide either in basements, behind furniture and so on. They hunt other insects, but are not aggressive and according to Wikipedia their behavior is described as “docile” of all the things.
In general there is not a single deadly species of spiders in Poland. The most dangerous thing you can encounter here are probably hornets, but even those are the smaller European hornets, not the asian killer ones. Because ot that reason I tend to let all spiders live in my flat and keep the place free of any other life forms, unless they make an ugly web in some visible place that annoys me.
No worries as long as the spider doesn’t have cross on back you should be fine
my babushka used to tell me when I was little that killing those spiders would make it rain
When he bite u will be Spiderman , but Polish version
No, they are so sweet and useful <3
Pro tip: offer it some beer it should leave you alone. That always works for me.
