Rishi Sunak: ‘I’ll make UK energy independent by 2045 so energy crisis never happens again’

  1. In deprived areas also or will you give our energy to rich areas?

Honestly, at this point, it’s all buzzwords I don’t believe a single word any conservative says you haven’t earned it.

  2. “I’ll commit to something being completed many years in the future, so that it sounds good now, but when it inevitably doesn’t happen by that time it’s not my problem.”

    ~ Every senior politician, ever.

  3. At least he’s somewhat realistic about how long it will take.

But it’s really a failing of the last 30 years that we’re not generating more power inside the UK than we are. We could have had way more nuclear power stations by now.

  4. And how exactly is he going to go about doing that? Is he doing planning on staying in office as PM until 2045 to make sure it’s gets done?

It’s such a load of bullshit, you just know he’ll completely forget about this and fall flat on his empty promises once he gets voted out.

  5. >Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on the country’s 75th Independence Day a new goal to transform India into an ‘energy-independent’ nation by 2047.

Indian PM said that in August last year. Looks like Rishi will only make it 2 years earlier than a country of current population of 1.4 billion.

  6. Translation: There will be an energy crisis all the way until 2045 at the earliest, unless climate change doesn’t get us all first. I can guarantee this because I will simply end up passing a bill that pushes the decisions onto the next Government and they will delay it until the next one over and over again.

  7. Pointless promise he won’t be in position to deliver, that he wouldn’t deliver if he does somehow win and will never be held accountable for anyway – cheers mate

  8. I read that if “green” Dave had committed to the green promises he’d made in 2010 (same as now- insulation, upgrading & investing), we’d need 45% less gas than we do.
Tl;dr: without the Tories we’d already have whatever Dishy is promising in the future.

  9. “crises will continue to occur until 2045… In which nothing will probably happen after having served for 25+ years”

  10. “Never happens again” after another 23 years of it happening while the world burns around us? Finally someone with a plan!

  11. I mean- they could just nationalise the energy sector. I don’t know why we sold it all off in the first place. What kind of moron would do that?

Oh wait it was Thatcher, who dingus and dingus hold up as the best PM ever.

    Utter, utter morons

  12. “I’ll go to the moon by 2045 and put up a massive mirror aiming at earth for free solar energy for everyone”….Liz Truss

  13. That’s the opposite of what we want. Nationalise critical national infrastructure. Such as energy.

  14. Just a 23 year wait then? Fucking outstanding rishi, if it took me 23 years to plaster a house I’d be sacked you useless prick

  15. Unless it’s 20:45 tomorrow, I think a lot of us couldn’t give a flying fuck, Rishi. That’s political speak for it will never happen.

  16. Rishi planning on becoming a Putin-esque God Emperor with no term limits then ey?

It’s nice to hear politicians talk about changes in terms of more than 18months, but 2045 might not be entirely realistic
