It was all over the news. Surely people must have some awareness of what happened
Here we go again… someone from the BBC giving something a title that’s from their own opinion or lack of knowledge.
But anyway, it was outrageous that the police even tried to pursue action against those vigil attendees. It shows that the Met Police much prefer proving themselves than actually doing the correct thing that should be of public interest.
hope those arrested sue. was disgraceful what happened
Kate Middleton openly attended, unmasked, during the day and the Met neglected to arrest and beat her up.
But the police should, for wrongful arrest & assaults.
I also recall accusations that multiple police teamed up to sexually harass & intimidate some of the women they arrested over social media. One woman alleged intimidation when her Tinder profile was suddenly ‘liked’ by over 50 officers after she was arrested.
Ridiculous bowing to media pressure.
Going up to a police officers swearing in their faces and telling them you hope they are raped, killed and on the front of the newspaper is not taking part in a vigil and is a simple prosecution for a public order offence covid or no covid.
It’s embarrassing the police bow down to the media.
The CPS didn’t go ahead as they would have faced an absolute tsunami of anger from a huge swath of the population.
They might be incompetent but they aren’t stupid.
Interesting read for those that only read about it in the media.
The protestors deserved to be fined/arrested. There were restrictions banning gatherings of more than two people and yet they felt they were entitled to attend this protest purely because they wanted to make a point? People were banned from seeing their families and visiting their friends/relatives in hospital, and yet these idiots feel that they should be immune from the rules because their protest was “too important”?
Fuck the Met. Had to be publicly shamed into doing anything about partygate, and brutalised a group of women holding vigil in memory of a woman murdered by a met police officer. They’re called the filth for a reason

I hope those protesters will be adequately compensated and that the met officers in charge of the operation will face consequences.
They were not protestors. They were attendees of a vigil.
I can’t believe everyone is pretending that the ones that were arrested were arrested for no reason and were just there to attend a vigil.
