Banderas is the most famous but they also mistake him for a latino which doesn’t happen with Bardem but still Banderas is the most famous spanish actor, either him or Jordi Alba
Also the bearer of the quintessential (good-looking) Spanish phenotype. He isn’t the best-looking Spaniard, that’s not what I’m saying, I’m saying that he bears all of the classic Spanish physical characteristics in a gracious way, like ready to be displayed in an old-fashioned anthropology book as a textbook example of “The Spaniard”. No wonder he’s so recognizable, he’s a walking stereotype.
Oh please, he is nothing in terms of recognition and talent compared to Javier Bardem or even Penelope Cruz.

When my Spanish husband and I visit America people fall all over themselves in love with his accent. He’s been told he sounds just like Antonio Banderas. That’s not at all true: my husband is Galician. It’s still a nice ego boost for him.
