Hello all. I want to buy a second-class ticket for ICE 9558. This will be my first time travelling in a train in germany and I will be having some luggage. Hence I want to sit near the luggage racks. I checked that the 9558 is ICE 3 Velaro D, and the compartments 21, 22 and 24 have luggage racks. Which options should I select here to get a seat in those compartments?
Once you have selected the type of seat you want, the site/app will tell you which exact seat it suggests for you, but will also give you the option to select a different seat. It will give you a seating plan, making all the seats that are still available for you.
Note that sitting near the luggage racks is a mixed blessing. On the one hand you might be able to sit near your luggage (unless the racks are already full when you board), but on the other you’ll probably have people right next to you dragging their suitcases in and out of the racks at every stop. There are also overhead luggage racks running the whole length of the coach, if your luggage isn’t too big and heavy.
