I’ve been living in Luxembourg since October 2015 and I’m amazed at the complete lack of diligence and interest of building management companies, aka syndics. Discussing with friends, colleagues, and acquaintances, I hear plenty of bad stories and nightmare situations. To make things worse, the law that governs this tracks back to 1975 (slightly updated in 1985).

We had serious problems to replace our previous building management: it took us almost a year and we had to get lawyers involved since the building management company was ignoring the law. That was the last drop, so I decided to start a public petition to get the law reviewed.

I need to give it visibility as it needs 4 500 signatures to make it to Parliament. Not an easy task!

  1. Can someone give some context in this? I don’t understand how the system works in Luxembourg but my rough idea is that the owners of a building outsource its management to an external company. If this company sucks, what’s preventing the owners from changing the company?
