Labour to call for energy price cap freeze this autumn

  1. _Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer will call for the price-cap freeze in a speech in which he will pitch how his party will pay for the measure, according to The Observer._

Paying for it isn’t really his problem, is it?

  2. Been thinking for a while surely the easy way to get around this impending energy costs doom is to just change the cap back to a longer limit so you effectively fix it for the next 12 months, then idk if necessary you can offer some state loans to the energy companies to get them through if that’s considered enough of a risk. Could be done overnight if there were any political interest from the top about how many are going to be fucked by this.

  3. If energy companies can’t absorb the cost they can go bust and can be taken over by the government. Basically what’s a happening to EDF in France.

  4. Would he actually do this if he was in government or is this just an easy thing to shout from the safety of opposition?

Edit: Looks like he’ll detail more on Monday…should be interesting.
