Hi everyone. I’m moving to Germany as a student this fall and I’ve found an apartment through https://www.coming-home.com They set up the contract for the landlord and I to sign, I signed it and he countersigned after. It has his signatures on every page and even has a stamp from his company (which is sort of a real estate agency too). His company is registered, has a website and logos match the stamp. Everything looks legit so far, except the fact that they are now asking for the first month + deposit, even though the tenancy begins on October. Is this a normal thing when using coming-home? Has anyone used coming-home before? I know there are a lot of scams out there but everything here seems legit.

I don’t know what their terms of service state.
Generally, I think (not a lawyer) that your renting contract would state up to when the first monthly rent must have been paid. Does your contract state anything?
Deposit does not have to be paid in one go and can be paid in three sittings beginning with the *Beginning of the renting* i.e. probably the day you move in and then paid alongside the second and third monthly rent. I don’t think landlords can force you to deviate from these three months instalments whithout you signing that you accept it … did you by any chance sign something stating you would pay it all in advance?
