Where was it going and why ?
It’s disappointing that the Aer Corps opted for a single engine aircraft for this role. Pre-2017 the EU forbade commercial operators using single engine aircraft in cloud or at night.
It’s engine is as reliable as any, but they do fail. And if it fails in cloud/at night/ over water the risk to the lives of those onboard is huge. Cost and efficiency have been prioritised over the safety of the crew and passengers.
