I’m not paying enough attention to anyone else while I’m on the luas to notice anything
I see people giving up seats to old folks most mornings on the red line. Does be lots of old folk on stops along the canal heading into James Hospital.
Once saw a lad finger his missus when they were both plastered, when I was on the way home from work at like 6pm. I mean giving people sexual gratification is a form of kindness I guess?
Jesus, that’s some r/ThereWasAnAttempt material if ever I saw it.
Probably be a more realistic return on a poll asking if anyone’s seen an act of violence or threatening behaviour on the Luas…
Was on the luas a few weeks back, started feeling really dodgy, dizzy, cold sweats (had been on a heavy dose of painkillers and anti inflammatories all week, so I guess I was going through withdrawal from the fekkin things), anyway, I tapped this girl on the shoulder and asked if she would mind giving up her seat, “jesus no, not at all, you ok, you’re white as a sheet”.
Thanks random seat giving up luas girl.
I mean I wasn’t stabbed so…
A pair of young fellits had a crate of apples (definitely not stolen) on the Luas and asked me if I had “any change or would like to buy an apple”. Does that count?
I’m from Dublin. Living in Cork now. As soon as I hopped onto the Luas, I heard junkies throwing abuse at eachother and random passengers.
*”I’m home”* 🥰
Has to be fake, no way they would ask that.
Edit: lol it’s real
Once when I was wearing a big fluffy hat during a snowstorm and a load of drunken aul lads started talking racistly about me amongst themselves, apparently assuming the big fluffy hat meant I was eastern European somehow and would have no English.
Oh Luas.
Yes – When the Luas becomes less crowded and the person sitting next to me decides to move to an empty seat nearby ❤️
I saw three kids handing each other the same ticket behind the back of the conductor.
Should Jamie Heaslip start a podcast?
Lmao I’ve seen more fights on it than acts of kindness 😂😂
I love that the first comment underneath this tweet is:
“Have you even actually been on the LUAS???”
During the snowstorms back in 2010 the luas was one of the only reliable ways of getting in and out of town so they were packed. A very nice fella standing a few people away told me that my phone was falling out of my pocket. I thanked him and put my phone back in. He took a beat and then said “no worries bud, if I was near you I would have robbed it”.
I think of him often.
“I saw a man offering covid injections to strangers!”
A man carrying a bottle of his own piss told me that you can’t bring a full bottle of piss through the airport. Sage advice.
I saw someone perform an act of LOVE on someone on the Luas. Does this count?
Not even once. Although I saw a group of kids aggressively share some eggs with the front carriage as they left….soooo
*Luas Deletes Post*
Nope. But I did see 7 junkies beat the piss out of each other a few days ago at the Stephen’s Green stop. Driver didn’t let us off until he thought it was safe, does that count?
Yes. I was getting the LUAS at the end of the line and had a suitcase with me. When I saw the LUAS was at the stop already I panicked and ran for it. When crossing the tracks I tripped and fell. Bag and suitcase went flying. The LUAS driver got out and helped me up. He said he wasn’t leaving for a few minutes so told me to take some deep breaths and then he carried my suitcase on to the carriage for me. He was really lovely. I wanted to write in and thank him but was afraid he would get in trouble for leaving the LUAS.
Yes, I saw a lad giving himself vaccine in Luas.
I have indeed. Coming up on Christmas last year I was heading from Heuston Station to Connolly for a connecting train at around 1 or 2 O’clock on a Wednesday or so. I seen these two young gentlemen sitting beside each other. One of the young lads took out a bag of powder, dipped a key into it and took a bump. He then offered the young lad next to him a bump from the very same bag and key.
Maybe your man was in the Christmas spirit, but I thought it was a heart-warming gesture, especially considering how young lads nowadays get a bad rap for being selfish, hateful cunts.
There was a girl trying to bring her service dog on and the driver wouldn’t allow the dog in. People began to stand at the doors to stop him from closing them and driving off. He eventually got fed up and let her on
Two Stories of kindness on the Luas!!
Someone standing up for my little 89 year old Mother to sit down on the way to Andre Rieu in the 3 arena. I was very grateful indeed, as was she.
Second story – Does it count if you actually did it yourself??
Was on the Luas to Red Cow. Theres a phone continually ringing behind me – really annoying. Then i realised there was no one there, just the phone. So.. I picked it up, answered it, a frantic girl explained she had got off on the stop before and left it behind – and its nearly out of battery. Samsung Galaxy of some type – it was a while ago.
So, told her I would wait at the red cow luas sign on the platform, what I was wearing, and my number. Then used my powerbank to charge up her phone a little while waiting.
She arrived a couple of minutes later, and was really very happy. And I got to feel good because with relatively little hassle on my part, I got to make someone really happy, and save them hassle and grief. yay.
Sorry if it doesnt count because I didnt ‘see’ it – but i did want you to know that they do happen sometimes. 🙂

I once offered my daughters seat to an elderly woman, she kind of gave me a dirty look and said “No!” hahah. Oh well, stand so.
“Heroin addict shared his needle with me. Sound man.”
