Something wrong with it, eh? EH?
What, that is even better condition than my street in city xD
It’s a fine road for a car like 4WD Toyota Hilux.
Maintenance of a private road belongs to the owner(s) of the road and not the municipality? Whoa.
You can drive on it, so where’s the problem?
you seem to be usi gps, they do not update small roads that often. Nobody wants tp pay upkeep so abandoned
A good old mökkitie
It’s flat and wide, I’m failing to see the problem here.
Seems to be working fine, i would have clocked at least 90 on that straight with my volvo.
tbh that seems to just be little overgrown but otherwise on good condition
Lapland definition for road was… an experience
It’s wide and flat enough for a car. I don’t see a problem here
[The green tram tracks](https://inhabitat.com/europes-grass-lined-green-railways-good-urban-design/) are trending in Europe, this is just the next step.
Looks like the road to our mökki. Where’s the problem with that?
It’s a path with tire marks. That is a road
To be fair, I don’t think it’s marked as a proper road (red line) into Finnish maps and markings that maanmittauslaitos uses.
Actually, no. Not only in Finland.
There is a road in Poland that used to be just dirt road before the war but after the war they built some alternative.
Still this former road remains officially a public road and today is passable only by extreme 4×4 vehicles, which – being still officially the road – makes this basically a free 4×4 playground.
That would be considered brand new highway in russia and similar places.
There are no trees growing on it, I can’t see where’s the problem. An occasional elk just would brighten the day.
You only feel the bumps when you’re not driving it flat out.
Looks like you have just followed Google Maps navigation instructions. Sometimes it’s picking up rather odd routes to a destination.
Either it’s an old abandoned road, or a truckroad (metsäautotie in Finnish, lit. forest car road) meant for getting to a logging site etc. Or maybe it goes to a field deep in the forst.
I am definitely bringing my old Subaru when I move. LOL.
It is a private road built by the landowner(s) for access to private land. The road is used for logging and possibly for visiting an old farm or cottage. The owner has no reason to make it fancy. The better the road, the more drivers use it, and the more the maintenance costs, especially if it connects somewhere at the end. Also, they may not want more berry pickers to park near their cottage.
Once the shortest road suggested by Google Maps took us through a private road and a active gravel pit where there were front loaders working at the time.
Yup, a road. Looks like it is not within city limits, so unless otherwise indicated, the speed limit is 80 km/h.
Haha in New Zealand we have “paper” roads. E.g. designated as a road corridor, but not actually built. It’s great when you’re in the middle of nowhere and your GPS routes you down a road that doesn’t exist.
never take the shortest route google maps gives you, especially in rural areas
I suggest looking at Karttapaikka if you encounter roads like these. We were once adventuring on a sketchy road like this in the middle of the night in Miehikkälä, following Apple Maps’ guidance. Karttapaikka showed it as a dashed line and helped figure out where the real roads were.
90-Luku ja kun isä tiesi oikoreitin mikä on 5-tietä huomattavasti nopeampi.
Oh nice, a Volvo V70/S60 with Road traffic information system.
Legal road in Finland is not same what some GPS thinks is a road.
Yeah, that is pretty rough. Better keep the speed below 80kmh.
