Drought creating ‘dust bowl Britain’ warns Labour as it calls for urgent COBRA response

  1. Is Angela Rayner thinking the government can bring rains? I think she’s overestimating the power of COBRA.

Yes, the current government should be taking action on some things now. The energy crisis can’t wait until Truss is anointed. But I can’t see any short-term actions that the government could take now which would help with the current drought now. The actions they should take are medium term, and Truss can take them.

  2. Oh, hello water company. You’re pissing 24% of your product into the ground? Lovely. Take 24% off all your bills until it’s sorted, or we’ll come and get you.

  3. Err what does she want them to do, a rain dance?

Yes water companies need to do a lot better regards leaks, but if we’re not getting enough rain, and fires are using loads of water, what exactly can be done.

This is the future. Every household should have to go onto water metres to pay for what they use. Why should two people who are careful with their usage have to pay the same as someone next door constantly filling up a paddling pool or watering their lawn?

  4. I’m sure all the hot air blowing from the Houses of Parliament is only adding to the increase in air temperature!
