A little background, I’m a highschool student from Canada planning to move to Brussels after school. I want to work and travel for a year and then I am hoping that I can pick up studies at a university down there (med). I am doing a program by my country that allows me to work and travel for a year however, I am having trouble finding jobs that I can apply for. I am learning French now and i am OKAY but I am no where near fluent- I cannot guarantee I will be fluent by the time I get there. I do however think that after living there for a couple months, I should be good. But I don’t have months to wait, I need to work as soon as I get there.

**Can I find a full time job for the first couple of months only knowing English? I’m talking fast food, service, hospitality, that kind of stuff.**

There is plenty of work just depends on what you want to do. Bartenders, waiters, guides, helpdesks.
Half of Brussels doesn’t speak French or Dutch; because they work for the EU or are immigrants.
It does depend on the work you want to do, but finding A job shouldn’t be too difficult.
I’m going to say no if it’s without any Dutch or French. A lot of older people here don’t speak English, so the jobs you suggest like fast food won’t work.
However, you’re learning French! You don’t need to be fluent, just acceptable. You’ll probably find something
In hospitality with no French or Dutch and without much experience and immediately after arriving.. that’s gonna be hard. Get your French done though and it will make a huge difference.
Have a look at the cleaning industry (cleaning offices).
It’s already hard for Belgians to get to study med, I don’t see how you could take your studies here (although I’m too old to still know anything about studies).
You can also ask on r/Brussels
There are jobs that don’t require French or Dutch. The amount available for you depends on what you’re willing and able to do.
Without at least a good level of French it’s going to be hard.
In Ghent there is An Irish Pub that only serves you in English so maybe there is something related in Brussels
You can try the local irishpub. Most of them work with travellers as staff and they serve customers in English.
Maybe the EU and it’s offices. It’s full of incompetent people with no skills anyway.
Yes lol
