It’s a podcast that is in Cypriot Greek and the subject will be languages in general, their histories, etymologies, structures, fun facts, linguistic concepts etc. Butttt I will primarily focus on Cypriot Greek, modern greek and greek overall.     Let us know when you will have the episode where you argue on why you think Cypriot should be “upgraded” to a language. What would be the practical benefits of doing so? Would you also support for Cypriot to replace Greek as the official language? Would we rewrite all our laws and textbooks? Would our students no longer be able to properly read books written in standard Greek, which are far more than those written in the Cypriot dialect? Also, if Cypriot is made a language, which Cypriot dialect is going to be the official one? The dialect spoken in Nicosia, Limassol, Paphos…?

    The other examples you mentioned (former Yugoslavia, Russia/Ukraine etc) are cases of countries which fought wars against each other and want to promote a separate identity. This is not really the case between Greece and Cyprus, nor it serves our interests to distance ourselves from our closest ally.
