Biden warns Putin he will make it ‘very, very difficult’ to attack Ukraine after US intelligence says Russia is planning military offensive

  1. Warns Putin? More like assure voters.

They’ll talk in two days, but I doubt it’ll change anything.

Whatever economic sanctions the US will put forward are likely already priced into the Moscow’s equation, and won’t act as a deterrent.

On the other hand, what the Kremlin is asking is completely unattainable, and it’s clear they won’t get it.

The best case scenario is that their demands are just the initial offer and that they’re ready to settle for much less than what they’re signaling at this time, but even so, any progress is unlikely.

The worst case scenario is that they’re already made up their minds, and these ultimatums are basically a way to abandon diplomacy.

  2. No doubt the angrily worded letters will upset Putin greatly. It’s all talk. Russia is already getting slapped with all sorts of restrictions, embargoes, you name it. What more is going to happen to them?

Add to that the chief of the NATO pretty much coming out and saying there is no chance that NATO will come to Ukraine’s aid militarily… and they may as well hang out the “WELCOME RUSSIAN SOLDIERS!” banner in the Ukraine.

The only thing that will save Ukraine is a mutual defense pact with someone who actually scares Russia. Like, say… joining NATO.

I hate to Godwin this so early in but remember what happened when we appeased the last madman who thought he could annex and invade at will….

  3. I’ll honestly never understand how European nations are okay with a foreign nation negotiating war and peace in their backyard. It would be like the EU negotiating the Cuban Missile Crisis with the USSR with the US sitting in the corner.

If Ukraine and Belarus fall into full Russian control then that would be absolutely catastrophic for European defense. It feels like many European nations think war is a historical concept and not something they need to actively be weary of.

Think about an asymmetrical war with Russia sending thousands of migrants across the border into the baltics, poland, romania and so on. What will Europe do?

Europe is surrounded by unfriendly nations yet they act as if they are Canada

  4. I’m absolutely in LOVE with Putin’s smiley face as he got older and older.

It’s like he’s been brewing a large cup of fuck you for the longest time, and he knows it’s going to be a special occasion, so he’s made seconds to go around

  5. I don’t believe that Russia will invade Ukraine, put Putin’s saber- rattling gives Biden an ideal pretext for reinforcing the US’s military presence in the region. People consider Putin to be a strategic genius. In reality, he keeps on scoring home goals.

  6. Difficult but not impossible. Difficult means money and blood. Papa Putin has both in large quantities. See you in nuclear-proof shelter… Oh, wait, what do you mean you don’t have one? 🙂

  7. Why is Biden constantly biting the obvlious bait of Putin, this fake we are gone invade Ukraine is simply playing hard ball for internal political use. By reacting on this thread by Bide Putin can act Russia is still a superpower(it is not it is an corupt kleptoarchy with the same gdp of Spain) just ignore that clown dictator.

  8. US intelligence is good at spying their citizen but I will never trust them with their recent history tbf.

  9. Russia is currently escalating the issue and is moving troops on the border.
At this point everything is on the table, from going out of Crimea to a further invasion.
NATO is taking the issue very seriously and is preparing for war.
Putin called for a meeting, NATO said maybe.
Putin said Ukraine cannot be part of NATO, NATO told Putin to get out of Crimea.

    Buckle up buckaroo
