My ex thought the same when he first bought it, until I reminded him that he usually drink semi-skimmed.
The shop might have had defective fridges or been way to slow to get it to refrigerator on delivery.
Or maybe whole fat is not your taste?
Dairy products with a lot of fat also is no fan of bad weather with lightning storms and so on. Just try to make whipped cream when thunderclouds are lurking…
But if it tastes a bit weird you can still use it to make waffles, pancakes or porridge.
What do you mean cloudy? It’s not supposed to be transparent…
It’s impossible for people here to answer your question. We can’t taste it over the internet. The container doesn’t look inflated, either. I regularly buy this variety of milk, and it has always just tasted normal to me.
Millk often tastes slightly different between different countries. This is usually due to different breeds of cattle, variations in feed, and other factors.
Milk is a natural product and will test different from region to region.
It is a biological product. It is quite possible that it can taste off even if it is not past the best before date.
If you’ve taken it out from the fridge and opened it many times it can affect the product. The day you bought it could have been a hot day, the time between the store and your fridge could have affected the product.
It has a decent fat content, fat is prone to oxidation when exposed to heat and oxygen.
Check your fridge, my best guess is that it its broken and need either a repair or a replacement
I buy the same milk all the time. Sometimes it happens that it goes sour before the expiry date. For the past 1 year it has happened 5-6 times to me, even though my fridge works perfectly fine. Like a guy previously commented, it might be that the workers were too slow to refrigerate the milk in the store.
Did you drink directly from the carton? That would introduce bacteria to the milk it will start to spoil faster.
What date did you open it? Fresh milk, which is not UHT treated, only lasts 2-4 days after opening.
Have you had thunderstorms lately? That can make the milk go sour before the expiration date.
How long since you opened it? I would expect an opened carton to last about a week, perhaps a bit longer before starting to go bad – assuming its kept at the correct temperature.
It went bad. That happens from time to time.
I bought the milk on 13 August 2022 and opened that day, I think.
Maybe because it’s August. In Sweden the time between 22-24 July to 22-24 August is called [*rötmånad*](https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rötmånaden), literally “rot month.” This is because it’s warmer and more humid, and there’s more bacteria and mould in the air than at any other time of the year, so perishables don’t last as long. Even if the milk is freshly bought you can’t know if there was a problem during transport, maybe the cold chain was broken.
Hey, we‘re in the Sognefjord region on vacation and just yesterday I thought „wow, this brand sure tastes strange“ 🙂 Ours didn’t go bad as yours did, but I guess this milk is an acquired taste anyway…
Milk from cows that eat fresh grass in the summer can taste a little different than from cows that eat concentrates in the winter.
I’d reckon that it’s because it’s intended for a baby cow yet you’re probably a human
I had the same problem. I think it was because our fridge was more full than usual and i started storing it on the top shelf. Now that I’ve moved the milk to the lower shlves, where I usually keep it, it’s been fine. So I’m supposing it’s a matter of storage temp.
Don’t keep it in your side fridge door, it gets heated everytime you open it. The milk doesn’t like unstable temperatures. Keep it layed down inside the fridge instead. It will hold alot longer that way
Mabye your fridge isn’t as cold as reccommended. I’d check that. BUT! There is a positive thing about this. If it’s not lumpy, but just smells a little wierd then you can use it to make waffles. We do that with cream, and that’s just fattier whole milk.
Because it’s wholemilk, try a lighter variant like Tine Lettmelk. Less fat and more milky taste to it… But if it tastes sour and gone bad, go back to the store and get yourself a new one
Where do you keep it in your fridge? I started having a similar problem with my milk. I had it in the fridge door, this makes so the milk warms up a little every time you open the door. After i moved the milk into the main part of the fridge the milk was good even past the expiration date.
The same can obviously happen if your fridge generally isn’t cold enough as well.
I’ve had it happen to me several times now that my milk (from that company) has gone bad before the date on the carton. ):< idk what they be doing but it’s something more recently that has started happening and I don’t like it.
If it tastes funny or smells funny, you pour it into the sink. Probably gone bad early, could be a defective fridge that is to blame.
Very likely too many days since opened, possibly combined with fridge not as effective as it should be. If you put a thermometer in the fridge and leave it closed for a few hours, when you open it the thermometer should read below 4 C. Any higher, the fridge is not good. Some can be adjusted to set a lower temperature, but if it’s already at max efficiency, chances are that it’s broken.
This is such an odd question to ask lmao like really?
Im mean it kinda does taste funky sometimes
If it taste funny, throw it out.
But I have literally never had milk taste any different from the day I bought it, compared to the day before its due to expire. The only exception is if I forget it on the counter in room temperature for hours. So if it happens again, check to see if your fridge is able to keep at the right temperature. If not you might need a new fridge..
Your fridge isn’t cold enough. Try turning the temperature down. If it doesn’t work its broken.
Cus tine helmelk is the best milk
Have you tried the this brand “ Qmelk “? Back in the days gone by (vegan now) I used the extra light version and could even freeze it & thaw it without it going bad 😁 Could never do that with Tine 🤪
Do you have a habit of leaving it out on the table? Just 1 hour during a long breakfast can change the taste for me. Also, isn’t the date unopened? I’m pretty sure it says “Open: 2-3 days on the back”.
Do you happen to have an eminent sense of smell?
My brother’s nose is very sensistive comapred to mine. He says the same thing about milk, but I cant taste what he is refereing to.
Tho after reading uve had it open for nine days maaay be the key here – Ive had milk opened for two weeks and its been fine, but thats an anomaly.
Have a lovely day <3
Have you sippedfrom the carton? In that case, it spoils faster due to the bacterias from your mouth. Just fyi

My first questions are:
Have you had this milk previously?
Do you usually drink whole milk?

The Milk Witch!
You know you can buy better milk, yes?
Gards mjølk is only pasteurised, they skipped the homogenisation
I pour out the top layer when using in coffee
