Bonus question: were you forced to pay for a sunbed?
everytime I have friends visiting, they always want to go Comino (even if I warn them otherwise). They always came back disappointed and feel trapped there in unbearable heat with no space or shading. Over-commercialised, dirty, and over-crowded Natura 2000 site. It’s a shame.

Ticket-system needs to be created, with priority to residents, and any leftover tickets can go to tourists. Which of course this will never happen since the Minister of Tourism and his family are personally financially benefiting from the over-tourism on Comino. Politics our downfall again, at the expense of the rest of population and the next generations.
It was beautiful all three times. It was best when I went on a weekday because it was less busy but even Saturday was great. Only problem was the jelly fish one time in July. Two people got stung and it got scary.
Yes. To the speedboat ferry to the Blue Lagoon. Found it over crowded but beautiful and great to swim in.
We avoided the overpriced parasols and spent most of our time in the water.
If you want some respite from the crowds and to be able to sit on a proper beach I suggest swimming across the lagoon.
As a Maltese American it has lost its charm for me. I used to go with my Gozotan family when I was younger and basically had the entire island to ourselves.
That being said, my American wife, kids and friends who came with us on the last trip loved it. It’s all about previous experiences. If you never knew how it was 20 years ago, it just seems normal to them.
If you go on an off day, go early, and leave by early afternoon it can be a really nice experience. But it can get awful, quick so best to follow with those parameters.
Yes it did, abut crowded but really nice
No.
Hell would be a nicer destination than comino in summer
My friends went to Comino a couple of weeks ago. (I suggested that we do it together the next time they come.) They came back very disappointed. At first, they couldn’t find a place. They had to buy a mattress on which they put all their things and they swam to some place, that’s how they explained to me. On the way back, they expected to take a ferry to Sliema, but the driver told them that he was driving them to the nearest place and that a bus would be waiting for them there. They are very disappointed. Although….my opinion is that I don’t understand tourists. I live in Malta, but if I travel somewhere, I really choose where I will go and I always count on what time of year I travel. I traveled to Croatia and there were too many people in a few places, but I guess that’s normal, summer is the season.
Yep, but not blue lagoon. Did my research and you couldn’t pay me to go there. I paid a nice kayak company in Gozo for a tour and they took us around the north west part of the island. We went into some caves and swam there, it was honestly breathtaking. Aside from a couple of respectfully-distanced scuba boats and sardine-packed tourist speedboats that came later in the day, we seemingly had the place to ourselves.
