Hey guys, not sure if this is the right subreddit to ask for this kind of advice but why not…

  1. Quite new to this.. didn’t give me option to add text.

Anyway long story short I recently rented a van from a company called Sixt. I’ve already had issues with them in the past, they often wait until you return a vehicle or van and claim there was damage there which didn’t exist before but usually I prepare myself for this by taking a picture of the condition of the car before taking it from their parking lot. Anyway recently after returning it to the address they tell you where to park however there was no parking spots left so I parked in another street which is supposedly also ok to park their vehicles as I asked one of the staff before doing so. And then weeks later they send me a invoice for a parking fine including a handling fee which I just find ridiculous. This is in Germany by the way not sure if it helps. How can I appeal this in the form of an email? Any advice would be super appreciated!! Thank you hope you guys have a great day/night!

  2. from what i understand, you parked somewhere without making sure you’re (legally) allowed to because the sixt people told you it’d be fine. it turned out to be wrong. the parking fee fine is probably from the city. because you were renting the car, they make you pay the fine and some fee because they handled the issue. does it suck? yes. can you get out of it? probably not. in general, don’t listen to people when you’re not sure and rather check the streets or your contract.
