The Indo, Irish Times , RTE and pretty much all our mainstream media spend more time defending corruption than investigating it. They are straight up gas lighting the entire nation in partnership with the government. As usual at best it’s unethical but more than likely corruption however when caught Leo or Michael come out and say not only is it not corruption but they fully endorse the culprit and practise. Move along nothing to see here. Sad state of affairs.
I’d imagine they have to report it somewhere? I mean they aren’t tax free sales so revenue would be aware.
Are ministers and TDs accounts public record?
>However, Sipo said: “As property is neither a good nor a service, this provision does not apply to contracts for the sale of property to a minister of the Government or a public body. In light of this, there is no obligation to disclose such contracts.”
Even now SIPO’s language is messy, which highlights the problem.
Land is real property (strictly speaking, historically only freehold land was real property, leases, etc, were chattels real) and all other goods are personal property.
Property is often used as synonymous with real property which causes confusion.
And it doesn’t help that VAT legislation counts land as goods, whereas the rest of the law generally doesn’t.
