Hi all,
I am trying to trace where my Greek great-grandfather was from exactly, and the only piece of documentation I have is a marriage certificate (in French) that shows something that looks like “Steizedere” as his birthplace (here is the scan: https://imgur.com/a/6MlogNP), I have tried Googling every variation possible, to no avail. Does it ring a bell to anyone here?
Thank you so much in advance!

I couldn’t find anything, either. Did you try to search online your great grandfather’s surname?
I wish you the best of luck!
Why write e with two different ways? Maybe e is another letter.
Closest match I could find is Σιγεριτσα in Corinth
Seems like it could be the Ottoman/Turkish name of the place. For instance, Alexandroupoli was named Dedeağaç until the early 20th century.
Why dont you start searching by the surname? Men s pass on their surname to the family when married, as most women change their surnames to their husbands. So chances are that the name has been kept from the males if the family. Surname is a good filter to refine search to a specific territory
