Profit isn’t evil. She’s right, they’re private businesses after all.
But when they’re posting recording breaking profits, sharing the wealth amongst themselves and patting themselves on the backs whilst people are struggling to pay their bills, she can fuck off with that attitude

However, grossly excessive profit in an industry providing a service that is essential to peoples wellbeing Is evil.
And it’s not “energy firms” that are responsible. It’s people. Human beings that work within those firms make the decisions.

What is evil is the people in charge of the system doing nothing about it at the cost of others. The justification for nationalising the basic needs of all the people is so blatantly obvious that those in charge that do not should be held accountable at this point.

Record profits are, especially when:
– you’re a utility company, then it’s evil
– when you have people on minimum wages, that is evil
– at the cost of the environment is evil
– at the cost of human lives when they can’t pay for your overpriced energy is evil
– using those profits to lobby perimeter to push through fracking even though communities don’t want it is evil
And I’m sure I’ve missed quite a few.

We are sleepwalking into multiple disasters and we have a current prime minister who checked out a month ago, and two incompetent human impersonators who are engaging in culture wars and coming up with useless, ineffectual policy ideas to appeal to <0.5% of the population.
Every single day, there is news of how disastrous things are getting for the NHS, the climate… We are talking about people not being able to afford to stay warm this winter. And we don’t have a single serious person in power who actually cares.
When are we going to get adults in government again? How are we going to end up with Liz fucking Truss?
Is she just accepting a loss in 2025. I don’t get it, how could anyone vote for her blatant disregard for the common person. It’s genuinely disgusting.
When you provide a service that is a matter of life and death you can charge the absolute maximum people can afford and there is nothing wrong with that.

Excessive profit, and profit in time of crisis, particularly when combined, **is** evil
Nobody would really be objecting if the energy firms were making the same profit as last year. We might be throwing a few glances in their direction and wondering why they can’t take a smaller profit, but I doubt we’d see them facing real anger
But why the fuck are they making RECORD PROFITS during a crisis? Surely that’s profiteering, and profiteering is obviously evil?
They could’ve carried on making a profit, but there was no need for them to maintain their usual profit **margin** and thus taking in record profits
Then let us make a profit from our actual fucking wages then.
