We soon will be on vacation in sweden and I’m looking for some activities/ beautyful spots/ etc. and wanted to ask you sweet swedes. Also, what annoys you the most about travelers in camper-vans, just so we can avoid annoying locals. Here’s our route, i would appreciate your help:

If you’re in a camper van, make sure you leave whatever area you camp at the same as when you got there. No littering! While we have Allemansrätten you also have a responsibility to take care of the nature you visit
I would suggest that you keep an eye on the traffic behind you when driving in the camper van, and make a short stop at a bus stop if you have a long queue behind you. On some roads it is hard to overtake safely, and you making a stop for 30 seconds will save a lot of frustrations for the people behind you.

sure you want advice from annoying locals
If you’re going to Örebro I propose a stop at rusakulan in kilsbergen (dm me for exact locations). You’ll get a great view from there.
Also, be aware of Örebro drivers. They’re the worse.
These places are in range of 30km in dalecarlia.
Falun: Falu Koppargruva, Dalarnas museum, Hoppbacken, a museum in the skijump facility where u have a great view over the lake Runn
Borlänge: Frostbrunnsdalen, Torsång, Ornäs museum. Dalarnas museum, Falu copper mine and Ornäs is a must to visit cause of the impact they had had for Sweden in our history
If you are going to drive by Karlskoga and have a day, visit Nobels museum. Yes the same Alfred Nobel behind the famous nobel awards.
Pm me if you want local tour guide
When you go up towards Gävle go to Älvkarleby, it has a river with dams and salmon and stuff, google. Also if it’s not too much, go to Öregrund, it’s a town by the ocean, very idyllic and special
Billudden for nice beaches, österby bruk for old fashioned castle place, Uppsala botanical garden is cool, close to Gävle there is a moose safari, dragon gate is a Chinese castle with walls, quite special
What anoys us moste is when campervaners calling us sweet
Be sure to visit Borås, väldigt fint. Sveriges Thailand.
On the way from Örebro you pass Arboga , its not big but theres old houses and where they had swedens first parliment meeting in 1435.
Outside Eskilstuna you have Julita, nice castle with some park and stuff to see, also you have Arsenalen a tank museum with swedish tanks
If you would change and go pass Västerås then you have strömsholsslott old castle famouse for being involved with horses in diffrent ways, you got Västerås slott. Köpings bil och teknik museum, old fire station that houses a car and tehnical museum, have a lot of volvo stuff since they have made volvo gearboxes in Köping since the start of volvo( still do but only for trucks also i work there). in Västerås you also got a open air Museum thats free, they have some farm animals and old buildings from around our area. You got skokloster slott, old castle that have not been changed inaide since the last owner. If you would go trough Västmanland instead of Södermanland you can DM for knowing diffrent things to see here 🙂
If you want to have a fire during the evenings please be aware that you shouldnt light a fire on cliffs (stenhäll?) and do not cut down alive trees or branches.
Yes. The locals are very annoying and should best be avoided.
Borlänge has an ostrich farm where you can pet the animals and also enjoy a ostrichburger.
Its called Sahlins Struts.
Uppsala for the beautiful cathedral. Kristinehamn for a beautiful camp site next to the lake Vänern. (One of the biggest lakes in Europe). And the largest Picasso sculpture in the world.
Nora outside Örebro is really nice in my opinion! 🙂
I just gave this tip in another thread: Taxinge slott pastry buffe. A large number of Swedish pastries for traditional fika.
I would definitely recommend going to Grythyttan, 8 swedish miles north of Örebro. It houses an amazing school called Måltidens Hus with a great cook book library and surrounding forests overwhelmed with mushrooms free to pick. Great lakes and beautiful nature. And a really nice hotel and restaurant called Grythyttans Gästgivaregård.
The neighboring village Loka houses an amazing spa facillity/hotel with views over a lake. And a great restaurant as well.
You should visit Nora, it’s a small city (?) with beautiful views outside Örebro.
There is also a tourist attraction in Örebro city called Wadköping, it’s sort of a medieval-ish village composed of old wooden houses with various stores and cozy alleys.
I would recommend [Färnebofjärdens nationalpark](https://www.sverigesnationalparker.se/park/farnebofjardens-nationalpark/), which is a section of Dalälven protected as a national park.
Around Örebro you have Kolarbyn Eco Lodge which is a cozy place, you have like miniture lodge that coolmakers lived in during the coal making process. They also have floating tents, canoe and outdoor bathtub. Its not cheap if you are on a budget but if you are sleeping in the van its worth checking out, maybe making some food at their campfire n stuff.
In the north-west of your trip there are some nice mountains and waterfalls to check out. Branäs berget is a skiiresort you can go up to get a view and get away from the mosquitos, there’s also a pub at the top (not sure if open in summer).
As you start going south from Branäs you can make a quickstop at Brattfallet which is a small waterfall in a nice canyon there, also a fireplace for making lunch
If you go slightly to the northeast corner of the lake there you’ll reach a small city/town called Rättvik. Has a bunch of walking paths along the lake and a lookout tower that gives a amazing view over the city and the lake. From rättvik there is also a boat called Gustav Vasa that has lunch tours on some days and also takes you to another city where you can spend a few hours walking around before taking the same boat back.
I used to live in Älvkarleby which is on your way to Gävle. It has a little camp site and quite nice nature, including dam and mini-waterfall. I recommend stop by there for a little bit
If you have a couple hours extra you should extend your route from Karlstad up to Arvika and into Glava and Stora Gla & Glaskogens Naturreservat. It’s a beautiful spot to go canoeing, swimming and enjoying nature.
Don’t litter and leave everything the way you found it and you’ll be fine.
Gripsholms Castle is very nice, they have guided tours in the summer, i think they still do them for 1 or 2 weeks at least
Make sure to visit Rottneros Park and Mårbacka when travelling through Värmland (western part of your route).
For a nature experience you can visit Brattfallet just north of Ekshärad. There are also a lot of beautiful place around lake Fryken.
Travel safely and enjoy our culture.
