How UPS left my new €3000 MacBook (details in comments)

  1. Ordered a new MacBook the other day, costing me €3000. The order details said ‘Signature Required’ and ‘Don’t leave with neighbour’

But UPS decided to leave the package as shown in the picture and presumably fake a customer signature as their tracking says it was signed.

No phone call asking if anyone was home. Just an email saying the package was delivered successfully.

I mean I’m working until 6 and wouldn’t have made it home till nearly 7. Meanwhile, the laptop is sitting in front of the house since 10am ready for anyone to take. Lucky I was able to make it home on my lunch break to get it.

  2. Yet to find a decent courier. Had one scheduled to deliver a load of gear for starting a new job.

First day starts and nothing. Company says it’s marked as delivered. Nothing.

Asked neighbour who’s honest enough and they’d seen nothing.

Eventually after querying the courier for more info it turns out they left it out the back behind some sheds on the Friday. Now this was Monday and it’d been pissing all weekend.

Two monitors, a Dell XPS 15, keyboard, mouse and a headset. Somehow it’s all grand even though the cardboard melted in my hands trying to lift it in the house.

    Fucking cowboys.

  3. Couriers have been signing on behalf of the customer since the start of covid and they seem to be keeping up the habit. They all do it despite repeated complaints and that’s just from my workplace. A couple of months back I had some poor contract worker ask me where he could fing the person who “signed for” the stuff that was delivered for him the previous day. He wasn’t too happy to find out that she’d been on holidays for the previous 2.5 weeks and that he’d have to search the entire site for what he needed. The driver just knew her name from other deliveries so signed himself using it.

  4. Minimum wage worker minimum effort so is the call centre worker you called , it doesn’t excuse their behaviour but I can understand it. Insure everything getting delivered or deliver to your work.

  5. I’d say we have had easily 150 deliveries in the past 2.5 years and an awful lit were “signature required”.

I’ve had them left with neighbours, thrown over gates, in hedges and dumped on the doorstep. In all that time I haven’t once been asked to actually sign for something.

I dont knownhow they get away with it. Surely stuff goes missing / people claim they didn’t get stuff all the time?

  6. Same thing happened to me last year. I ordered 2 matching curved monitors from lenovo. One was left at the front door they didn’t even knock. They faked the signature and I was missing one of the monitors. Took months to get it sorted out

  7. Should be said that if Porch Pirates make off with your stuff the courrier is legally responsible for the loss of said items. Faking signatures or saying they delivered something you were not there to recieve doesnt get them off the hook.

  8. I have ‘Leave in car’ on all my packages.

Not doable in scummy Dublin but down the country its great for me and courier.

  9. That’s unusual with Apple stuff and UPS, anything I’ve ever got has required a signature which I often missed and had to reschedule.

That said, DPD drop kicked at drone over an 8ft fence (We have the CCTV footage and Irish rugby have expressed interested in signing him) so I’m not surprised any more.

  10. Send a note to apple customer care. They don’t like things needing a signature being left out like that

  11. Lol UPS did this with my new €1000 laptop last week, but in plain sight. Driver actually called me afterwards to ask if it was the right house….

  12. Had beer delivered during the pandemic and a bottle was missing, the driver had smashed it and thrown all the broken pieces into the grass. Didn’t find that out until a few weeks later. The child and dog out playing in it all the time too.

  13. UPS did the same with me 2 times. Once delivered my phone and accessories worth 1500e to the wrong address. Other time they delivered my earphones worth ~70e to someone else. I got the phone the same day after calling UPS, earphones, I lost but got a refund and got the package somehow back at my door step after a week. I tried sending them back their 70e.

    UPS 🤷🏻‍♂️

  14. Had a good one this year with DPD.

They said they rang my doorbell and no one showed. I told them I live in a building with an open lobby and a receptionist…

  15. That’s pretty good to be fair. 🤔
Some cunt of a courier left my tower pc out in the open. In an estate. For 8 hours

  16. UPS adopting dodgy US delivery practices to skip having to hold onto it for a repost or bringing it to an An Post holding centre..

Best to do is report it to Apple how bad a practice it is.

  17. All delivery companies including AnPost doing this now. Won’t try again or wait at door to see if someone home. Surprised more stuff not getting nicked tbh

  18. I hate it when I see that it’s being delivered via UPS.

When I was on roscommon my games workshop orders would be sent via UPS. Leave England in two days then sit in Dublin for three weeks due to ‘customer living in remote location’

I know Roscommon isn’t a bustling metropolis bits hardly outer Mongolia ffs.

Where I live now it’s dpd and my local delivery guy is great for leaving packages exactly where I want. Gotta love rural life.
