Today, 33 years ago 2 million Lithuanians, Latvians and Estonians joined hands in hands from Vilnius to Tallinn to demand freedom and democracy from USSR. May this historic event never be forgotten!

  1. I was there with my parents. Remember it felt like a picnic: people were sharing sandwiches, sweets and drinks and singing traditional folk songs.

    Keep on independing.

Finns are behind you, soon officially as NATO member.

EDIT : “independing” even if it’s not a word

  3. To be precise, it was to demand the Soviet acknowledgement of the Secret Protocol of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.

  4. Don’t forget that the independence of all countries besides lithuania was made possible by Russians – regular people from Moscow who flooded the streets on August 19-21, 1991 and prevented GKChP from gaining power.
