What are those random city/village names that get sent to me through emergency alert messages when I’m traveling through Poland?

  1. You are warned you entered Zgierz or surroundings. The place known for drivers that completely can’t drive anything. You are lucky that you are still alive.

  2. Does it make that loud beeping sound every time you get a village name?

  3. I’ve had it happen to me after coming back from the UK. No Idea why. Stopped after a month or so

  4. Probably some bug between two warning systems (NL and PL) and the way they are sending messages.

You are getting a warning every time NL system detects you are entering area that PL system flagged as weather danger.

Even if changes in area are due to GPS inaccuracy, not real travel.

  5. See how many times did it warn you about Zgierz? It’s like the Polish Bermuda Triangle, except that instead of ships and planes, people lose all hope when they enter it

  6. You are receiving network messages with location, that many phones ~20 yeas ago used to display without a notification on a screen. I am pretty sure somwhere in settings You can turn off receiving network messagess if that bothers You, or exclude channel 50, because that’s what location services in PL uses

  7. You have entered Zgierz. There be dragons… Run you fool! /s

  8. Zgierz is an eldritch horror of a town in Central Poland, someone is wishing you ill

  9. You have just, by complete accident, stumbled upon possibly the very last BTS towers that announce Channel 50 messages with their location. This was heavily used back in dumb phone days, as for example Nokias could have been used to display this text on the Home Screen as a form of mobile GPS before mobile GPS
