I actually hate this story and can’t understand why people enjoy it so much.
We bears hate you too
Why first two pictures are germans?
The second picture shows german soldiers though i believe so thats not Wojtek
The dad of one of my friends was in Wojtek’s unit
Only the last picture is real.
It was so chaotic and lost in translation that we’ve decided to arm bears.
Wojtek!
Completely fake pictures
Bear arms, arm bears, instructions were unclear.
Bear arms, arm bears…
Both. Both sounds good.
You can also make him king of Poland under very specific circumstances in hoi4
metal af
he drank beer with them too
Such an amazing story but 80% of the photos i see along with it are fake photos with German Fallschirmjäger troops which actually were the troops that fought against Wojtek and his brothers in arms in the battle of Monte Cassino.
As I remember he was helping moving shells for artillery and he never drop even one, the other thing he did… he catch an enemy spy
He love to to doing wrestling with other soldiers also he was smoking cigarettes with them and drinking beer.
Americans giving their kids guns as birthday presents and thinking that the rest of the world will find that normal:
Don’t forget about ww1 Polish army bear – Baśka Murmańska
From the pictures, it seems he was first drafted to Wehrmach(like many Poles, living in West part of Poland, annexed by the Third Reich), served as elite paratrooper and then deserted to join Polish forces in the West.
What an epic story.
Sadly, he had to stay in Great Britain after the war, because of communist government was prosecuting soldiers who were fighting in the West.
There is an unconfirmed rumor, that he was in Special Boat Service. Excreta Tauri Astutos Frustrantor. Chwała Bohaterom!
He liked to eat ciggarets and even drink bear. He also loved to wrestle with other camp members (I think it’s obvious he was usually winning). During the battle under Monte Casino, he was seen helping to carry 45-kilogram boxes of ammunition
