No new measures to help with cost of living after crisis talks between Boris Johnson and energy bosses

  1. I thought he couldn’t be bothered to do anything about it anyway? Not exactly surprised.

  2. “it is for my successor to make significant fiscal decisions” Boris Johnson shouted over his shoulder while he made his way to the beach with his wife and children.

  3. This was just a talk to discuss Boris Johnson’s future career prospects with the energy bosses. Perhaps his speaking fees?

  4. What was the point of the crisis talks then? I guess Boris has realised he can’t look worse to the general public, and anyone still supporting him won’t be put off by this latest display of nonchalance

  5. Baby Trump is boogying away in Chequers on what his PR people laughingly referred to as “The Honeymoon” despite Zac Goldsmith.
Truss and Sunak are busy trying to convince the Conservative Members they had nothing to do with Government policy over the last decade, and the “current” Chancellor is coked to his eyeballs knowing he absolutely does not have a job after September so why even bother to pay lip service?
Meanwhile Starmer is as silent as ever.

  6. Laughable. We have a chancellor who has taken a three week holiday in his first month. A pm who doesn’t believe anything is his job…but won’t step aside to let someone else do the job. Oh and two candidates so inept that they are racing one another to the bottom in who can be the most right wing.

Good luck folks, we will all need it!

  7. Maybe it’s for the best that the fuckwit who pushed through his ovenreadyfuckup to get brexitdone hasn’t committed the populace to more fuckery.

    ….. Still a cunt.

  8. Why are there still so many people who love this man? When did we become a nation of self flagellants with no self respect? He’s lied to you multiple times, partied whilst your loved ones died alone in hospital, and now demonstrates beyond all doubt that he never cared about any of you.

  9. Boris put out a tweet saying he’s urging electricity companies to do more to help people

Like he isn’t leading the fucking government and could force the companies to do something

  10. Honestly, everyone now needs to recognise that an interim PM was the right option.

Boris Johnson, who apparently up to date never bothered with established traditions, now suddenly is following established traditions.

Probably because he thinks whatever he does, it’ll get worse and he won’t get another shot at things if he steps in now.

  11. It’s going to be a long, dark winter ahead. For many it will also be their last for want of warmth in their homes and food in their stomachs. How much bleaker will it get?

  12. After spending most of this year trying to keep Johnson in power the conservative government is too exhausted to bother with trivial affairs like the current economic crisis.

  13. The energy companies have failed in their responsibilities, their long term usefulness should be reconsidered and appropriate action taken.

  14. > However, Mr Johnson’s spokesman said that “by convention it is not for this prime minister to make major fiscal interventions during this period”.

So after breaking pretty much every convention there is, he now sticks to this one.

  15. To all the anti-Corbyn British voters now…. how does utility nationalisation strike you these days? Not sounding so daft anymore, is it? Too fucking late though.

12 years pissed down the drain and nothing to show for it but a bunch of entitled English twats still jerking each other off in the pig-trough.

  16. Johnson: you need to help with the cost of living crisis.

Energy bosses: we’d prefer not to.

Johnson: that’s fine. At least I can say I tried.

Energy bosses: here’s a holiday for you.

  17. When winter hits and nothing has changed, if there is not a civil war or at least mass civil unrest in the UK, it will prove we have become exactly what the establishment wanted!

  18. God am I glad to leave the UK for good later this year. I cannot take this any longer.

The ship’s all yours, mates! At least what’s left of it. Good luck!

  19. I’ve done everything boomers keep telling us to do. I pulled on my metaphorical bootstraps and got a better paying job.

I accept I’m in a much more fortunate position than many and can afford these price rises. But, everytime I up my income another crisis comes along and swallows it up. Reducing my disposable income, disposable income I would spend while functioning in society, money that local businesses would use to pay employees and making a strong economy for all.

Instead more and more of my disposable income is going to the very corporations, the very people that do.not.need.it!! And just hoard that money away screwing us over even more.

The whole thing is one big scam.

  20. Well, what did we really expect?

Boris knows that he can’t prevent his resignation now so he’s just gonna leave whoever takes over as PM with a bigger mess to deal with. That way, when things get worse (because Sunak and Truss have clearly shown that they have no clue on how to properly give aid to people in this crisis) Johnson can attempt a come back by being like “See, it wasn’t my fault! It was those two idiots who were messing up everything I did!”

The issue is that this means the population as a whole will suffer more from the crisis because Boris can’t ignore his bruised pathetic ego and actually form some more measures to help the people while Sunak and Truss not only have no clue on how to properly assist people in the crisis but they also care more about perpetuating culture war nonsense and giving money to their rich pals instead of helping the people of the country they run.

Boris, Sunak, Truss and their supporters in the Tory Party like Rees-Mogg, Dorries and Raab are all the most pathetic excuses for human beings that have ever taken power in Parliament and the sooner they are replaced, the better the entire nation will be for it.

  21. Well, cannibalism is making a comeback and I feel like politicians are going to be high on the menu choice when meat becomes unaffordable.

  22. What the fuck did you expect. The energy bosses to go ok heres a couple of billion towards the bills. Just fuck off neither of them care. Boris doesnt give a fuck because in a few weeks it wont behis problem and the energy companies know the next twat will do fuck all to bring down prices for the consumer.

  23. Enough is Enough.

Someone pick a date, it’s time to strike.

Edit: 5th September? When they’re expecting to announce the new scumbag in chief?

  24. Well, fuck my boots! I was sure that Boris was going to work his arse off to get this matter sorted. It’s almost as if he doesn’t really care about us.

  25. I called this yesterday.

Dipshit James Cleverly on the TV yesterday insisting that the government *was* taking urgent action, stating that these meetings were the urgent action.

How can the fucking Education Secretary be so **naive** to really believe that these talks would have bore fruit?

I don’t care much for Richard Madeley but I was glad to see him tearing into Cleverly yesterday.

Until someone from government comes forward and actually tells us what plans they’re currently debating putting into the emergency budget, everything else is a failure.

Unless said action is immediate come the new PM taking office and budget reveal, it’s going to be too little too late.

  26. “you are not in trouble…but we are going to sit here whilst everyone looks on and I will pretend to look angry and annoyed, so they think you are being told off, but between you and me, you are doing just great, keep up the good work” – Bojo – allegedly

  27. I hope every Tory suffers at least some form of worry over this. Even if you’re a high earner you probably either don’t have or don’t want to pay an extra £600.a month. You bunch of right wing wankers, you got exactly what you deserved. I’ll sit it my cold house with unpaid bills and still find it funny.

  28. The whole meeting went like this.

Haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw

  29. Both my grandfather and father lost their jobs during the thatcher era so as a young boy coming from a mining family in South Wales, I was already fully aware of the Conservative party’s deplorable nature when it comes to lower class parts of the country.

It’s so fucking sad to see history repeat itself now when I’m in my 30s. All because a lot of people in this country want to live in their bubble.

You’ve got people in this country on 80k a year thinking they’re hard done by. You have people who think Boris did a good job with Covid because at least their Nan didn’t die.

People think that the reason we can’t buy houses is because of our Amazon Prime subscriptions and not because they’ve bought three houses and are renting the last two out.

But no. Fuck voting Labour because we’ve all become Big Brother contestants who only care about ourselves.

If you voted conservative and are going to struggle with the winter payments, I honestly have no fucking sympathy for you.

Some people in this country have been living with a cost of living crisis since Cameron got full control in 2015. Welcome to the club.

  30. Of course they won’t, the greedy bastards want your money, that money going into there offshore bank accounts, is the main objective of the Tories, they are only interested in helping the rich get richer, they aren’t going to do anything to help ordinary people, that’s not what they do.

  31. This has to stop, the tory party has brought the UK to its knees, spat on it, t bagged it then some how sold its rotting corpse the idea that this is better than socialism and this is patriotism.

Flag shaggers have fucked this country raw and left it with STD’s.

Patriotism is standing up for the people, all the people and especially the oppressed and the minoritys, it’s not what ever the fuck the tory party and the daily mail call patriotism.
