At-least we’re doing alright on the food wastage per capita

  1. As an American living here in Ireland, I can say I observed a significant difference in attitudes about food waste. I recall the first time hearing some ads about how much food waste the country generated over the Christmas season and being a little shocked that the government was asking folks not to buy stuff. Excess is truly American and the government encourages this at all levels including food.
Is there a source for the data?

  2. What’s interesting is that a map from a few weeks ago showed how much calories the average person in each country obtains. So not how much they necessarily ate, but how much they bought.

We came near the top, at something like 3,000 kcal, and everyone put it down to us wasting lots of food. But this makes me think we’re actually just really really fat fucks
