I’d say the famine is ingrained in our collective psyche.
This strikes me as one of those things that is measured completely differently in every country so can’t be compared
Tis the fear put into ya by the mammy telling you about the poor starving kids in Ethiopia….
What the hell is up with the Greeks wasting that much food?
As an American living here in Ireland, I can say I observed a significant difference in attitudes about food waste. I recall the first time hearing some ads about how much food waste the country generated over the Christmas season and being a little shocked that the government was asking folks not to buy stuff. Excess is truly American and the government encourages this at all levels including food.
Is there a source for the data?
Are the Greeks loading up those plates up with falafel before they smash em?
The amount of fruit I see wasted in the hotel I work in. Mainly as pointless garnish for cocktails and g n ts.
What’s interesting is that a map from a few weeks ago showed how much calories the average person in each country obtains. So not how much they necessarily ate, but how much they bought.
We came near the top, at something like 3,000 kcal, and everyone put it down to us wasting lots of food. But this makes me think we’re actually just really really fat fucks
We’re not too bad on composting too
Finish your dinner or else!
Hungary is one of the worst offenders there. Bit ironic.
