If the Gardaí can’t police O’Connell Street, what chance do they have of getting this right?
We need a dedicated anti-scrote police. No traffic stops, no house calls, no missing person cases, just go around and deal with the fucking scrote plague.
Shouldn’t this just be standard Garda ops? Like what are rank and file Gardai doing in Urban centres on a day to day basis?
What might be worth considering is taking on the European model of Gendarmarie – the army could patrol certain areas, surely this could fit into the wider skillset of peace keeping defence force?
Are the bus companies private or public? Curious is all.

How would “public transport police” have stopped this?
So assuming Gardaí do 12 hour shifts, if you want to put a Garda on each bus, you’re going to need what, 2,000 extra Gardaí for this new transport police.
It’s unworkable, they just won’t admit that.
As much as I would love to see a public transport police, the reality is they probably wouldn’t have been on this bus to help that poor man.
However, I think this is just a symptom of a larger problem, we don’t need specific public transport policing, we need effective policing full stop.
These scumbags are everywhere and they’re untouchable and they know it. They’ll assault people anywhere they go because they know they’ll get away with it. Public transport safety is just the symptom of the weak police force, and that will never change.
The reason other European cities don’t have scumbaggery on their public transport isn’t because they have police on their bus and trams (which they do). Its because they don’t have anywhere near as much scumbaggery at all. There’s no soft touch when it comes to anti-social behavior. It’s dealt with and there are consequences.
We have to cut the problem at its source. Deal with the scumbags and the anti-social behavior will stop.
This and then you have Regina Doherty harping on about how FG are the party for law and order on Twitter last night. Such hogwash.

Dublin Bus owns in and around 1,000 buses.
There are approximately 14,000 Gardaí.
