Eurovision 2023: Seven UK cities make shortlist to host song contest

  1. Generally I’m very up for the idea we should spread things beyond London… But on this one sort of feel like maybe it should be in London because that’s where the majority Ukrainian people in the UK are.

  2. I hope Manchester gets it. I’m just glad it’s not in London. That would be a lot more expensive to host just because of how things are there.

  3. I think the idea of ever having the Eurovision in England ever again is a terrible one. The competition was started to promote cooperation and unity between the countries of Europe. During the Brexit referendum, England and Wales voted in favour of leaving the EU – Scotland and Northern Ireland in favour of staying. The contest should be hosted in an area where the populace voted in favour of remaining.

  4. This article does Newcastle so dirty lol. Birmingham has hosted before! Leeds is doing their own year of culture! Manchester has a large Ukrainian community and has hosted many large events!

And Newcastle…has an arena that is conveniently close to the train station.

  5. FFS please god no more. The Midlands has already been such a shitshow due to the commonwealth games. Please fuck off somewhere else.

  6. Sheffield seems a good choice IMO. I would say it might be less known of those cities internationally? Maybe Newcastle?

Birmingham has just had the commonwealth games so they might get ruled out.

  7. I reckon it’ll be Manchester, we’ve got this massive co-op arena that’s being built and due to open next year I think.
