>Police also received a call from a company which designs and creates realistic training mannequins, saying it was a water rescue mannequin which was being loaded into a car
LPT: start a mannequin company before kidnapping people so you can tell the police that you were just loading/unloading stock.
Reminds me of when someone called the Police saying there was a demonstration in the Town Centre where I worked. Nazi flags and British flags being flown and people on horses. The call came over the radio as Nazis on horses! I was quite excited to take that call imagining a right old scrap with the far right unfortunately it turned out to be the BBC filming a scene for Ridley Road. It was a massive production set, cameras were everywhere, not sure what the caller to Police saw as it was obvious it was a film set. The horses were being ridden by actors dressed in old style Police tunics, hats and capes. Still, for a brief moment I thought Nazis on horses were a real thing and they had come to take over the Town.
Tom Sharpe wrote a book based on a similar premise.
Half right then..
Give them a break – excellent detective work for me
Makes a pleasant change from dog-walker finds corpse and thought it was mannequin, I guess. That’s the true crime staple!
