Although the East Coat is having some trouble, easy enough to shut off the golf courses though.
Reminder: leaks cost 3bn litres a day.
3 billion.
Water should 100% be in public ownership there is zero competition just regional monopolies.
Nah but it’ll be inefficient!
(Economist’s definition of efficient: makes the most money).
All our infrastructure should be.
….says anyone who wasn’t bribed by the policies of the thatcher creature in the 80s.
One of the problems is that the water companies have loaded themselves up with debt, so it would be extortionately expensive to privatise now.
They should never have been privatised in the first place. But the government and water regulator need to get a firm hand in place to control and limit what they can and can’t do.
Everything that is essential to the public well being should be in the public hands.
Is it not time the water companies where fined for every litre of water they lost through their lack of investment. Lets say £1/litre. Watch the fuckers repair the leaks then. And they can increase bills to claw back the money. Ban the standing charge and make them responsible for any pipework on your property.
