Artist’s space. Right. Look forward to seeing the prices here.
At least Guggi and Gavin Friday will have somewhere to be shite.
Looks unreal!
Wait until some cunt gets the thing stalled for years
Looks great, I’m sure the NIMBYs will find a way to shit all over it.
Brilliant, much needed for that site and great that they’re including the arts centre.
Also hilarious how it makes the Ulster Bank site so small. We’re finally building upwards and turning into a modern city.
Looks fabulous. We need more of this between the customs House and the sea
> Although the provisions of the George’s Quay local area plan (LAP), which applied until July 2022, had limited building heights to between six and nine storeys on the site
That’s clearly bonkers. Why would you do that in an area of modern development in the middle of a city? I agree with keeping the character of Georgian areas (as other European cities do with their historic areas), but the quays? Literally no reason to blanket ban highrise there.
Has a cohort around him that think anything over 6 floors is bad. Look at the Player factory site and the NIMBYS involved there.
He still has a ridiculous amount of coverage in the media (Newstalk, Irish Times etc) compared to those who are in favour of developing the city.
Hope it gets approved.
Also I like that it only has 11 parking spaces, why would you need more in the middle of Dublin? Hopefully they don’t make them put in more…
I’ve more chance of winning the euromillions than this has of been approved.
Don’t murder me but this thing is primarily an office building. My understanding is Dublin is grand on offices. what it really needs are homes. Arts space and exhibition galleries are great but they could be included in a residential building on the same site.
23 storeys of offices to commemorate the end of the office era – bravo!
You need skyscraper across the city, to accommodate people for a reasonable price.
Building a taller building on the river really is only for the rich. This changes nothing
Let’s get it done!
People losing their shit over an office block seems bizarre. These buildings are a nightmare to heat and cool and just add to the climate crisis fast approaching.
Fantastic news! A breath of fresh air the city needs, we’re tired of more and more cultural establishments being torn down for shitty overpriced hotels, hopefully, this 24fl building will be the kick to the arse or the yank people need to get their heads out of the sand. Once they see a tall modern building that doesn’t look like it was made by a depressed 1920’s slum fanatic, they’ll realise just how ridiculous we’ve been in forbidding people from building high. It’s about time we built UP instead of out. we could make Dublin a proper metropolitan city that people are proud of living in again.
Hope it’s approved and set the way for future, taller buildings
City arts center used to have some amazing events. Kinda feels the fun has gone out of Dublin a bit…
It’s significantly taller than existing buildings. What are we gaining here, another corporate office complex. We need housing
Sure plonk a load of 8 story buildings in Dublin’s suburbs instead of higher buildings in the city centre. Makes perfect sense!!
>the proposed City Arts Centre scheme is office-led with 22,587sq m (243,124sq ft) of office space over 23 of its floors
Ugh
They’re obviously asking for this height, knowing they won’t get it, but can ‘haggle’ from there.
Pity there is no residental units included in the plans .
Would be a great location to live .
>The application also provides for a 244sq m (2,626 sq ft) gym at ground-floor level along with 11 car-parking spaces and 424 bicycle spaces.
