It wasn’t a great game but the novelty behind it all was really cool at the time.
I remember at its release being a big deal about having a gaa game and there was a ton of hype over it.
Ultimately it was never going to be great without the players or likability to some of the characters and faces of the sport we see in real life.
That said I thought the 2nd game that came out a year or 2 later was a significant improvement.
It’s worse than watching the real thing half the time.
That’s an intelligent-
The first level was trying to get parking around Croke Parke on All Ireland Final day, and your health bar was measured in Ham sandwiches.
I’d actually love to play it now. It’s so bad, it’s nostalgic.
I rented it in april 2006! Clerk said not to bring it back! I brought it back anyway.
Ah, it’s not that bad!
Its the only time that Mayo actually won the Sam Maguire.
If nothing else its unique. The disappointment stemmed from the mad hype around the game, especially when the Toy Show had it up and the GAA’s all encompassing control in Ireland had it promoted to no end. And of course if you compare it to FIFA or one of those EA sports games it was going to fall short. I wouldn’t mind a second crack at it though.
Had some good memories of this game. The epic match between down and mayo were a goal from a 45 sent the game to extra time. Still talk about that game today lol
