Hello! I’m visiting your country and was reading some Google reviews. What does the “style of a thousand cardinals” part mean? Is it a phrase of some sort? I love learning these language-specific things. Thanks in advance 🙂

  1. Corfu? 😁

It means a pretentious superior attitude, like the staff pretends they are way above you, afaik. Superiority complex.

  2. It means that they were very snobbish. Cardinals were viewed as snobbish and the phrase alludes to their attitude being as snobbish as a thousand of them. DeepGreek

  3. The translation is wrong in the 1st sentence.

It says “he was not scolded” but in the original he said “they were so rude that the only more rude thing they could do was scold them”

  4. It’s more like “a face of a thousand cardinals” or “an attitude of a thousand cardinals” in a more accurate translation. It’s a greek idiom that in short means “arrogant attitude”.
