  1. To be fair they’ve been the most expensive place to get anything for years. So the undersoldness has been pretty well known for a while.

Business models including decency are a dying breed though.

  2. I was looking for work a few years back, I got approached by an employment agency for a driver’s mate job at John Lewis, hey, I thought, a bit of money is better than no money.

6.50 an hour, they offered the next day’s work at 5 pm the day before, if you didn’t respond immediately or couldn’t make it, you lost even that for ever. I had to provide my own uniform and food, had zero job security or even an idea of how many hours the next day would be.

Talk about exploitation and taking the piss. I have boycotted them since.

  3. I used to work at waitrose so got 25% discount on everything except 12.5% on electronics. Everything was still overpriced even with that in mind, that was almost 10 years ago

  4. Worked in John Lewis for 6 years between 2011-2017 selling TVs and the lot.

Never Knowingly Undersold (NKU) was the bane of my existence & should have been terminated a looooooooooong time ago.
