I wonder who / how they found out he was lying about it. It’s one of those things you assume someone wouldn’t lie about so whoever looked into it must have had reason to suspect he’s not trustworthy to begin with.

Unpleasant on several levels… taking the piss at work / in a job that’s supposedly to protect and serve the public *and* it pisses on anyone who’s ever lost someone and had to hope for a kind boss to make their bereavement easier.
Hopefully this haunts him.

His fake girlfriend *actually* died of meningitis.
