I just brought this home from a fromagerie, the owner was an old lady, should I report it to some authority or just to the lady herself? WTF someone can get hurt with this shit.

  1. Just eat it and tell her nex time that she might want to pay more attention. Its 4 days over the best before. Nothing will happen. Wait another month and you should be careful before consumption.

  2. Yah, go to the police and tell them to arrest her or beat her up immediately. She obviousely tried to kill you with feta or so. /s
No really, what do you think is the crime to report here?

  3. CH is very strict with exp/’consume by’ dates, which means that this feta is perfectly fine until it starts smelling weird. Feta usually has a higher salt content than comparable cheeses/dairy products, which makes it last longer. When stored correctly (in the fridge and in an airtight container, feta either covered in fluid or sealed), it can last up to a month.

Again, until it starts smelling and/or looking funky.

Next time you come across that lady, politely tell her that she happened to sell you that cheese. She will appreciate your feedback and be more mindful, and you won’t have destroyed a private artisanal business over perfectly fine feta.

  4. Are you retarded! You want to go snitch on a elder person because perhaps she made a mistake?
Grow a spine, bring it back and politely ask for one with a later date.

  5. It’s four days expired Feta. Just eat it? Or bring it back and ask for a refund? Why the f. would you report her?

  6. Well, I’ve seen the same thing happening to coop, with another product. It happens. I’m Greek, some of the Fetas we get from local producers don’t even have a date written on them. As long as it doesn’t smell foul, it’s fine.

  7. Sorry to tell you, but you are to Swiss for Switzerland. You should look for a country that is more bünzlig. Good luck, mate!

  8. A consommer de préférence. It’s a recommendation. It helps the customer to determine since when the product will lose its qualities. It does not mean that it is poisonous.

  9. Before you bring it back and it has to be dumped because they can no longer guarantee that it was stored in proper conditions, there are people struggling to afford to buy food who will probably be more than happy to get some “4 days past the recommended date” cheese. Most people are not *that* picky usually. Ask around.

  10. People are clowning on you because you implied you legitimately thought it might be a good idea to inform *the authorities* that an elderly lady (not migros, coop, or lidl) sold you cheese that is 4 days past the best by date. Honestly it’s hilarious man and you should get a life

  11. Homeboy really made a thread on reddit and wrote 45 comments within 2 hours. Simply could’ve asked the store owner if she would give you A) a refund or B) a product with a later date of consumption/expiration.

But yeah man sure go ahead and report her to the authorities.

  12. Yes you should TOTALLY report the poor old lady to the police for accidentally selling you some feta cheese with an “expired” consume date, which are overused. She is totally trying to food poison you and kill you!!! Have some good old Common Sense will you? My god… KOPFERDEI MANN

  13. are you aware that cheese already is a fermented product to begin with?

also these dates on food products in switzerland are always ‚best before‘ not ‚deadly starting on date X‘

    – Youll be absolutely fine eating this
    – no you dont report in to an autority( but congrats on the bünzitum)
    – if it bothers you THAT much you could totaly return it to the store but that will most likely just cause an old lady majorly rolling het eyes at you

  14. No Karen don’t report it to the authorities. Here’s a crazy advise. Try taking the stick out of your ass and ypu might feel better.
