almost like the political class need purging so we can get to building houses with working insulation in enough numbers that people actually have houses to live in.
maybe also need to look at some mad ideas about updating older buildings. could call it insulating britain or something.
It is a sign of things to come. This is only the first year that we will see the idea of rationing floated about, the war in Ukraine is going nowhere any time soon and we are paying the price for not doing more to build functioning nuclear plants. We don’t even have sufficient gas storage facilities for times like this. We are going to have to have a radical rethink of our entire energy system and how we use energy at home if we want to avoid this becoming the norm every winter.

I’ve basically stopped using my oven. It’s just me so it takes too long & uses up too much electricity to be worth it. Fried boiled steamed sauteed! This is the way!
I’m legitimately considering a culinary blowtorch for brown melty cheese on things instead.
