Do you even know where Latvia is located? Do you even know the history behind that monument? Better stick to your fantasy commie subreddits.
Ew a communist
It is actually a beautiful day for anyone who loathes oppresive regimes. If you truly hate fascism then you should be happy that a monument glorifying the occupation of free peoples gets smashed.
OP has clearly drank the vodka kool-aid, but for any foreigners wandering in that might not actually understand the real situation: the soviet union and nazi germany (both equally pathetic regimes) split europe pre-war in a buddy-buddy move and so the soviets marched into Latvia with tanks. Hitler breaks poor little Stalins heart by attacking him and so war. With the help of the west (and only with the help of the west) soviets defeat the nazis, but their equally despicable regime gets to stay in eastern europe because the western countries are too tired of war. So while other countries enjoy freedom, Latvians get deported to gulags, killed, their properties stolen and given to barbarians etc. The soviets attempt to russify the latvian culture and build monuments glorifying themselves (as all regimes do), portraying themselves as liberators of Latvia from nazi occupation (by occupying it themselves), and if you dont like being occupied, your culture erased and snitching on your family ans neighbours for not liking the soviet party? Well then you must be a nazi! (Basically OPs sentiment). Once Latvia gained its independence a deal was made to finally get rid of the occupying russian army, in return, their monuments stay (among other things). The statue and monument being demolished have been symbols of russian opression and their unvilingness to admit it – seeing them fall nearly brings a tear to my eye. It is as simple as that: we hate regimes – fascism and communism both. And if you ever wonder if maybe russia aint that bad and its maybe western propaganda, ask yourself – why are all post soviet eastern european countries (the ones that were part of the soviet union, but got away at the absolute first chance) the fiercest haters of russia – because they know.
I guess USA is the only place you can be so clueless that you actually decide to be commie. 😀
