I’m curious what precisely are people’s gripe about this – is it that there are deckchairs allowed on the beach, or that the deckchair operators have close links to gov officials?
The police officer decided to go to Comino to have some quiet years before retiring. Little did he know that not writing out tickets or not enforcing any laws on Gozo or Malta was quieter.
This whole situation perfect encapsulates the state capture of Malta. People operating illegally with no permits and no punishment of the law, because of their connections in the government. While the ones protesting the illegalities, destruction of nature and the pure greed in Malta, get confronted and harassed by the police.
I thought it was legal. How is it illegal to rent the land and provide a service everyone wants?
Used to work as a concierge in a 5 star hotel.
Trips to Comino are the least bought, the tourists simply don’t want to spend a day in an overpriced, overcrowded once beautiful gem :/
