Presumably this is British Gas profits not Centrica profits. i.e. fuck all.
Edit: Having now actually read the article I was unsurprisingly correct.
I assume they’re going to carry on f**king everyone on prepayment meters still?
Could just choose not to, how about dropping the the daily charge down to something reasonable?
Also, how have they identified these customers who they think will need help?
Grants of up to £750; 12,000,000 / 750 = 16,000. Yeah that’ll address everyone struggling, thanks British Gas!
Are energy companies getting nervous do you reckon?
10% of their retail profits, so 10% of 98million.
They made 1.3 billion in profits across their whole operations in the first 6 months of the year. So actually, they are giving less than 1% of their overall profits for half a year.
Don’t fall for this bullshit posturing.
I do question whether they should be entitled to any profits at all given the circumstances.
Aren’t they arguing that the price cap is set at insufficient levels? Hence why we are looking at additional increases…
I don’t think Ofgem should be setting a cap which allows an increased profit for energy companies.
Sounds like their shareholders have decided to give the poor people a sprinkling of crumbs from some of their profits. I can’t see this as anything other than a very insulting Marie Antoinette moment.
So they’ve been profiteering and now they’ll give back 10% of what they’ve taken. What about the rest?
