Not victory, but “Monument to the Liberators of Soviet Latvia and Riga from the German Fascist Invaders”
get fucked soviets
Arajs kommando monument is replacing it, I assume?
What a beautiful day! I hope to see the same happening in Bulgaria before I die some say
I thought it was meant to celebrate the defeat of the Nazis, why take it down?
I expected to see like a series of explosions so when the dust settles it would be like “Tadah! It’s gone,” but nope, just full on “TIMBERRR!”
When was the monument build?
I hate comunist… dont take me wrong, but monuments arent something we shojld be taking down… they represent a countries history… erasibg them its like trying to erase history.
Good fucking riddance
Latvia just gave a big downvote to the USSR.
Finally
The more purged Soviet landmarks in Eastern Europe the better 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Very nice.
Such a nice view!
The biggest is waiting in the center of Warsaw.
Why was it taken down only 30 years after independence?
Ngl that was such a brutalist monument, The pylons looked more monument worthy than that
That’s a pity though. Politics aside, Soviet monument are beautiful.
It’s a good thing they destroyed it, because they hated being part of the soviet union. However the timing feels a bit odd to me, it suggests that they destroyed it because of what Russia is today. A monument of the past should do nothing what the situation is today and vice versa.
