  1. > Protestors who have dug a tunnel under a road near Kingsbury Oil Terminal claim police are putting their lives at lives at risk by failing to stop traffic. It has now emerged the protestors from Just Stop Oil dug a tunnel under Piccadilly Way as part of their protest about the terminal.

They dug a tunnel under a road? I’m lost for words.

  2. Protests are meant to be inconvenient, if they are not seen and not heard then nothing will change and yes the police have a duty of care to make sure protesters aren’t being killed.

  3. The Just Stop Oil protestors are big boys and girls who need to start taking responsibility for their actions.

  4. Europe is experiencing an unprecedented drought. Rivers like the Loire are now dry riverbeds. Look out of your windows, now. What do you see? I’ll tell you what you’re looking at. Hunger. Failing harvests worldwide, compounded by war and political shenanigans. Some desperate person digs under a road to draw attention to this and you all pile on like self righteous morons.

    Humanity is fucked.

  5. I would have thought that digging a tunnel under a road to cut off an oil terminal must violate some kind of law, and that the police would have a reasonable authority to use force to clear the tunnel so some engineering bods could determine the best way to fix the problem.

Potentially criminal damage to the people who the road belongs to, presumably the local authority.

  6. Guys, look at the state of the country. At least they are trying to do something. All we are doing is talking shit online.

  7. Even as we see whats happening all around us, the public will never show anything but disdain for these people.

Nothing will ever change because people would rather listen to the media/government narrative.

People say they want change, but they don’t; not if they can get angry at each other instead.

  8. As people on here like to repeat, the point of protest is disruption and to gain attention. As such why should the police intervene here ?

What better way to make a point and show their resolve for the cause then getting themselves entombed and blocking access to the terminal?

  9. Wow the comments in here are just proving why nothing ever gets done about the climate crisis, you all defend it when a group of people are protesting against it LOL.

  10. >A fire service spokesperson said: “Crews assisted the police by using a snake camera system to locate any possible protestors within the small tunnels/ holes that had been carefully dug by protestors.

    >”No protestors were found in the tunnels in which water was then applied to the area to discourage any protestor’s from coming back to the scene to protect local infrastructure from any further possible disruption. A full round the clock police presence was then implemented.”

Sound alike the protestors are bluffing and the police and calling them out on it. They want a road closed for a non-existant danger.

If by chance there is one tunnel somewhere occupied… Oh well.
